Kid Connection
Children’s Ministry--birth through 5th grade--is a high priority at Morning Star Church! We believe it's the church’s responsibility to partner with parents in raising spiritually healthy kids. We value our volunteers and our parents, and we want to equip them both to be God-honoring in raising our kids.
Following is an overview of our curriculum, along with the basic truths and faith skills we hope our kids will walk away with when they "graduate" from Kid Connection.
“And Jesus grew in wisdom, stature, and in favor with men.”
Luke 2:52
Early Childhood
Basic Truths
- God made me.
- God loves me.
- Jesus wants to be my Forever Friend.
The Nest (Birth - 23 months)
Coordinator: Andi McCormick
The Nest is designed with the tiniest of our churchgoers in mind. Our caregivers provide a loving, caring, and nurturing environment where we provide simple, engaging activities from First Look that surround your child with messages about the love and care of their Creator. We believe that it’s never too early to let a child know that God made them, God loves them, and Jesus wants to be their Forever Friend.
The Hideout (Two's)
Coordinator: Andi McCormick
The Hideout provides an exciting environment where our Two’s focus on one key truth all month long using a teach-less-for-more approach. First Look engages the five senses through Bible stories, worship, and creative activities. We then provide parents with tools to encourage conversation with their children at home, reinforcing the weekend's teaching. Our leaders teach with the end in mind to help kids believe that God made them, God loves them, and Jesus wants to be their Forever Friend.
The Treehouse (Three's - Pre-K)
Coordinator: Andi McCormick
LIL’K provides a fun and simple way to reach our preschoolers with the transformational truth of God’s Word. Through creatively taught Bible stories on DVD and active learning, preschoolers can begin to realize that church is fun and God’s love for them is real.

The Gallery (K-3rd grade)
Coordinator: Laura Sliger
In The Gallery, kids explore Bible stories that focus on a core virtue and a memory verse all month long. In addition, kids experience engaging presentations of the 3 Basic Truths from 252 Basics: I need to make the wise choice, I can trust God no matter what, and I should treat others the way that I want to be treated. Kids worship God through song, and then, through lesson-related activities that reinforce the day's bottom line, our Large Group and Small Group Leaders guide them through illustrations of how God works in our lives to make us more like Him. Kids leave with God Time Cards that promote discussion at home.
The Loft No. 4 & The Loft No. 5 (4th & 5th grades)
Coordinator: Traci McCune
When our preteens enter the Loft, they enjoy a few minutes in community then participate in corporate worship. They divide into small groups, or teams, to answer clues about the upcoming lesson. After a large group they break into small groups, or teams, to grapple with the day’s topic. The curriculum, which is an adaptation of the Rethink Group’s “252 Basics,” is designed to get kids into the Bible and discover what God’s Word says about the issues they face so they understand and own their faith. At closing, the class is given a dare, which challenges them to take home and live out what they’ve learned.
