Nehemiah
Meets Sundays, September 12 - October 17, from 6:00-7:30 pm in The Gallery.
Nehemiah, a Jewish official in the Persian government, led the third and last return of the Jews to Jerusalem after the Babylonian exile. With royal permission, Nehemiah challenged his countrymen to rebuild the shattered wall of Jerusalem. In only 52 days (and in spite of opposition from within and abuse from without) the task was completed. By contrast, the job of reviving and reforming the people of God within the rebuilt wall demanded years of Nehemiah's godly life and leadership. Nehemiah is an Old Testament picture of the Holy Spirit who works with believers today to accomplish God's divine will and purpose in the world. Deeper is taught by Dr. Curt Scarborough, chancellor of Pillsbury College and Seminary. Dr. Curt is a down-to-earth Bible teacher who offers practical applications for personal spiritual growth.
Deeper: Nehemiah is being postponed until 2011.
The Epistle of James
Meets Sundays, October 31 - November 21, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in The Gallery.
James, the half-brother of Jesus Christ and the lead pastor of the church in Jerusalem, integrates true faith with everyday practical experience. James challenges believers today to be “doers of the word, and not hearers only” (James 1:22).

Did God really command one of His prophets to marry a woman of ill-repute? Why would He do that? What lessons (if any) can we learn from an ancient prophetic book of the Old Testament that was written 750 years before the birth of Christ?
