Carl Turner Memorial Family Fishing Tournament and Fish Fry
If you already know the details and you're just here to register, scroll down.
Who’s it for?
Anyone who likes to fish . . . or likes to eat fish . . . or likes to watch squeamish people try to bait their own hooks.
What is it?
A great opportunity for our church family to hang out together in the great outdoors.
Where and when is it?
Saturday, September 18 at Busch Wildlife Center (meet at the covered pavilion behind the office area). The tournament starts at 8:45 am and weigh-in starts at 11:45 am. We’ll start frying and eating fish at 12:15 pm.
How much does it cost?
Nothing.
What should I bring?
Don't forget your fishing license (for everyone age 16 to 64), fishing gear, lawn chair, sunscreen, beverages, side dish (if last name starts with A-R), and dessert (if last name starts with S-Z). Our Men's Ministry is providing the fish for frying. By the way, don’t worry about having to filet your fish. We’ll have professional fish cleaners standing by to clean and bag your catch!
I don't like to fish.
Come and enjoy the Fish Fry anyway! We'll get started at 12:15 pm. (And don't forget your side dish or dessert!)
What are the rules? Are there prizes?
- Individuals and families are invited to participate.
- Any combination of fish caught can be brought in for the weigh-in (catfish, crappie, bass, bluegill, and so on).
- You must be back by 11:45 am for the weigh-in.
- The winner will be determined by the average pounds of fish per person. For example, if your family of four catches 8 pounds of fish, your average pounds of fish per person would be 2.
- The family with the greatest average pounds of fish per person will receive a trophy.
A trophy for “Big Fish” will be given to children in two age brackets: 9-15 and 8 and younger. The adult with the biggest catch of the day will also receive a “Big Fish” trophy.
- Trophy presentation will begin at 1:15 pm.
I'd like to participate. What should I do?
