Gretta was born in Ohio but was raised in the St. Louis area (Parkway Central High School if you’re wondering) and is the eldest of three daughters. She graduated from Mizzou in 2001 with a degree in Political Science. She married her husband (and BFF) Michael in 2008 and was thrilled to become an instant mom to her step-daughter, Corinne.
Gretta and her family began attending MSC in 2008 at the invitation of Michael’s cousin. Not being a Christian herself and having had several negative experiences with Christianity as she was growing up, Gretta was skeptical and hesitant to say the very least. As she relates the story, “I told Michael ‘ Okay. Fine. I’ll go- but I’m NOT going to like it.’ I walked in the front door at MSC with a bad attitude and many preconceived ideas of what church and Christians were like. There was no way I was going to be open to these people or what was going on in THAT place. Against my will, I was blown away by the people and hospitality at MSC. No one was judging me, everyone was friendly, and Pastor Mike’s message was so relevant to me and my life at that time it felt as if he was speaking directly to me. They made it so easy, comfortable, and safe to take those next steps in my spiritual journey, and I soon found myself crossing the line of faith to become a Christ-follower.” Michael brought Gretta to Morning Star twice, and she has been dragging him back ever since..
