Homeless Outreach Program

The Morning Star Church homeless ministry has two branches:  One serving our neighbors in St. Charles County through First Step Back Home (FSBH) and the other reaching out to the urban homeless in St. Louis with our friends at The Word at Shaw.

Get Involved - St. Charles

First Step Back Home (FSBH) is a faith-based Christian ministry that primarily serves critical, chronic, temporary, transient and working single homeless males in St. Charles, Lincoln, and Warren Counties. FSBH serves meals nightly to 20 to 30 people at the Budget Inn in Wentzville. You and a small group of friends can organize, provide and serve one of these meals. Don’t worry, we have experienced people to guide you through the entire process!

Get Involved - St. Louis

Shalom House is an organization that is working to end chronic homelessness for mentally ill/chemically dependent women in St. Louis. The Word at Shaw currently partners with Shalom House and serves meals there quarterly. If you are interested in helping to provide and serve one of those meals, let us know! There is also a workday planned at Shalom House. This will not be a “stand around chatting while you pretend to work” work day. Expect to work hard and feel good about it at the end of the day.
