Mike Schreiner was ordained in the United Methodist Church in 1991. In 1998, he accepted a call to begin a new church in St. Charles County and, with the help of a core group, launched MSC in September 1999. Under his leadership, Morning Star has been the fastest-growing new United Methodist Church start in the state of Missouri and now serves as a model for other new church starts.
Mike grew up in Jackson, Missouri, and graduated from Jackson High School in 1985. He graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medicine. In 1992, he received his Master of Divinity from Eden Theological Seminary.
He and his wife, Dede, live in Lake St. Louis. They have two children, Jay and Samuel. He loves to play sports and fish; especially when he can do them with his family.
What CD do you own that no one would suspect? KISS Greatest Hits.
What's your favorite flavor of ice cream? Chocolate with hot fudge and raspberries.
What has been your scariest moment ever? Driving home on the interstate, with my wife and son driving in the car behind me. I look in my rearview mirror and see Dede’s car swerve off the road in one direction, then she overcorrects and swings off onto the shoulder of the road, her car does a 360, and she and Jay end up on the shoulder, nearly going down a ravine. Definitely the most scary moment of my life.
What's the hands-down best concert you've ever attended? The Red Rocker, Sammy Hagar, “I Can’t Drive 55” Tour.
What talent do you wish you had . . .but you just don’t . . . like, not even close. Singing—I’d so love to be a Mark Roach for a day—rock the house. I’m not even close, which is why I sit in the front row… so no one can hear me!
