The Way
On Sept. 15, 2013, Morning Star's newest church plant, The Way, will officially begin meeting. Under the leadership of Pastor Jimmy Cooper, The Way can be best described as a missional church, "... shaped by participating in God's mission, which is to set things right in a broken, sinful world, to redeem it, and restore it to what God has always intended for the world" (Lois Barrett).
With a vision of living differently in an indifferent world, The Way has three primary emphases: discipleship, mission, and community.

Our deepest desire is to develop disciples of Jesus
These days, churches count all kinds of things: attendance in worship services, dollars in the offering plate, number of members. While those things are important to varying degrees, being discipleship-driven means our primary metric is how successfully we’re developing fully formed followers of Jesus Christ.

We’re always being “sent” somewhere for someone
While the word “missionary” tends to make us think of super-Christians who live in a country halfway around the world, we want every person who is a part of The Way to understand that he or she is a missionary--in our families, as we go to work and school, participate in our community, and live our ordinary, everyday lives in extraordinary ways. We are designed to be a multiplying movement of disciples who make disciples who make disciples who ... you get the idea.

The Church is meant to be a compelling community that models a different way of life to a watching world
It’s a popular claim: “You don’t have to go to church to be a Christian.” Sure, you can have a relationship with Jesus without being involved in a church. But if you want to look and act and love like Jesus did, then being engaged in a community of faith is absolutely essential. As Christians, we look to one another for support and accountability, encouragement and challenge. It’s really quite impossible to follow Jesus in isolation.
Being community-centered also means going beyond the walls of our building and making an impact in the communities in which we live. We want Western St. Charles County to look different because of our influence and involvement. We seek to be the sort of church that if we disappeared tomorrow, our community couldn’t help but notice.
