Volunteering at MSC
- is not about filling slots. It's about allowing you to explore God's purpose for your life and helping you get connected to other people around here.
- is not about filling your schedule with more stuff to stress out about. It's not about "have to." It's about "get to." We want you to find an opportunity that's meaningful to you.
- is not getting to try something once and then guilting you into doing it for the next 106 years. Unless you want to.
Here's how to tackle this:
- Check out the menu to the right. Totally ignore the areas that don't sound like much fun. (If you're bored reading about it, you're definitely not going to have any fun actually doing it.)
- When you find an opportunity you'd like to try, click on "Try It." Complete and submit the form, and someone will be in touch with details about what to do next (orientation or training session, one-on-one meeting, and so on). You'll notice that we only allow you to select one opportunity within each area. It's not that we're snooty; we just don't want you to get overwhelmed and take off for Tahiti or something.
- After your first volunteer experience in that area, decide if that's your spot or if you need to keep looking around. It's totally okay to change your mind. Remember: This isn't about filling spots . . . it's about filling you.
- If you'd rather, you can download and print the whole volunteer catalog so you can read it wherever and whenever you want to.
If you get stuck and would like to have a conversation with an actual person about your interests and skills, contact Ken Willard.
