Backpack Impact

... so kids in our community don't go hungry

Backpack Impact is a ministry of Morning Star Church (MSC) dedicated to supporting children in the Wentzville School District who experience food insecurity.

Since 2015, MSC has partnered with the Wentzville School District to provide weekend food to students in need.  Many children rely on school meals during the week, but when school is closed, they may not have access to enough food.

Backpack Impact helps bridge that gap by providing easy-to-prepare, kid-friendly food items to sustain children through the weekend — ensuring they return to school on Monday

nourished and ready to learn.

Our partnership began in 2015 with just 28 students at Prairie View Elementary. Today, Backpack Impact serves more than 200 children each week across six schools: Prairie View

Elementary, Barfield Early Education Center, Discovery Ridge Elementary, Lakeview Elementary, Frontier Middle School, and Liberty High School.

The children we serve are thoughtfully identified by school counselors as experiencing food insecurity. Counselors connect with families, who may then choose to opt into the

Backpack Impact program offered by Morning Star Church.

Through strong school partnerships and the generosity of our community, Backpack Impact continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of local children and families.

VOLUNTEER

We welcome people of all ages to volunteer with Backpack Impact! You can help once or twice a month, or whenever your schedule allows. Typically, we pack every other week during the school year and need volunteers to sort food, check expiration dates, and shelve donations. Please let us know you're interested in volunteering by completing the Volunteer Form below. We so look forward to hearing from you!
